Trauma Informed Care

As a Black therapist with a passion for supporting marginalized communities, I work from the understanding that many emotional struggles are adaptive responses to lived experiences.

Rather than focusing on “fixing” symptoms, therapy focuses on:

  • Understanding emotional patterns

  • Increasing nervous system regulation

  • Building self-compassion and insight

  • Creating meaningful, lasting change

Sessions are paced intentionally and grounded in emotional safety, always! My goal is to create a solid foundation of trust in our relationship as to promote the most growth for you over time. If you don’t like me or trust me, we won’t be able to get you to where you want to go.

Trauma Therapy

Culturally responsive care in Los Angeles for those of us who have been through hard things and had to keep it together, despite it all

If you’ve been on the internet over the last few years, you’ve heard the phrase The Body Keeps the Score. And if you were lucky enough to escape the madness and flood of “you HAVE to read this”, this phrase is taken from a non-fiction read, by Bessel van der Kolk, detailing how trauma resides in and impacts the body, more specifically your entire nervous system! If you’ve ever experienced flashbacks, anxiety around a memory (explore anxiety therapy here), avoiding certain people/places/things due to discomfort, or even simply feeling dysregulated around a family holiday, you’re not alone!

I provide trauma therapy for individuals navigating the lasting impact of difficult or overwhelming experiences. Over time, therapy can help you process what you’ve been carrying and begin to feel more grounded, present, and connected to yourself. Therapy is provided via telehealth. I’m based in Los Angeles but can provide therapy for anyone in California and Florida!

How Does Trauma Show Up?

Trauma doesn’t always look like a single event — it can be cumulative, relational, or tied to ongoing stressors.

You may notice:

  • Feeling constantly on edge or unsafe

  • Emotional numbness or disconnection

  • Difficulty trusting yourself or others

  • Intense emotional reactions that feel hard to control

  • Patterns in relationships that feel repetitive or overwhelming

These responses are not random — they are adaptive.

How Can Trauma Therapy Help?

Trauma therapy supports you in understanding your experiences while building the capacity to move through them differently.

In our work together, you may begin to:

  • Develop awareness of emotional and behavioral patterns

  • Increase nervous system regulation

  • Build a sense of internal safety

  • Strengthen self-trust and self-compassion

  • Process past experiences without becoming overwhelmed

Brainspotting Therapy for Processing Trauma

Where you look affects how you feel! If you’ve heard of EMDR you’ll be familiar with the concept behind Brainspotting.Brainspotting is a neuroscience based mind-body approach that helps individuals access, process, and release deep-seated emotional pain, trauma, and stuck patterns stored in the nervous system. By using focused eye positions called “brainspots,” this therapeutic method supports people in gently moving through experiences that feel overwhelming or hard to talk about, helping the body and brain reorganize and heal. Similar to EMDR, in Brainspotting we utilize the eyes for processing. However, in Brainspotting the gaze is fixed and localized on a optimal spot to access the emotion hub of the brain.

This approach may be helpful if:

  • Talking about your experiences out loud feels overwhelming

  • You notice strong physical or emotional responses in processing

  • You want to access deeper healing beyond cognitive insight
